About Us
- The Firearms Traders Association of Victoria represents the firearms distributors, dealers and retailers in this state. Established in 1906, the association has a great Heritage and is almost the oldest of its type in the state of Victoria.
The FTA's mission is to promote and protect the Victorian gun trade and it carries out this at all levels, from representation at Government to day-to-day queries with Firearms Licensing Services and local authorities. The Victorian Firearm Traders Association is committed to supporting businesses involved in the Retail, Wholesale, sporting and recreational gun trade in Victoria. From manufacture, wholesale, retail and repair of guns and ammunition to the provision of Firearm related product and back up to Security and Government agencies and the promotion of shooting and hunting opportunities, whether in the field or at shooting ranges.
- Provides information to our membership on issues affecting their businesses.
- Renders assistance to our members on the Online Dealers computer system.
- General assistance to our members in day to day running of a firearm dealership including Firearms register sales.
- Lobbies political parties regarding legislation that may affect our members.
- Engage with various state and federal government bodies on behalf of our members.
- Network with other state's dealer associations.
- Liaise with SIFA and other National and State Firearms organisations.
- Represent our member's requirements to the Victorian Police Licensing Services Division, Worksafe and Border Force.
